Driftwood: Little Feet

I chose a piece of driftwood for its mass and peculiar shape to continue my study on balance and the sequential flow of motion. The first few images mark the profile of the driftwood as it slowly tumbles over the paper and balances itself. Small blue marks indicate where it actually touched the paper, resembling tiny feet or pivot points.

Three yellow profile drawings were transferred onto clear plexi-glass and cut out as drawing tools. The three plexi-glass plates have holes that correspond to their respective pivot points, which allow me to pivot and stabilize them on paper while spinning other plates around them. The colored markings notate the negative spaces between the contact points.
